Just before New Year’s we visited Joshua Tree National Park, just east of Palm Desert. The park is at the intersection of the Mojave and Colorado deserts. We chose to use the south entrance as it is just 30 minutes from town; the more popular north entrance is about 60 minutes away. It turns out that the actual Joshua trees are mostly near the north entrance, Nevertheless, we enjoyed exploring the desert in comfortable temperatures. We went as far as the Cholla Cactus Garden, which alone was worth the visit. Other highlights included Cottonwood Spring and the Ocotillo Patch.
